Part of the Sedimentos series, Arroyo emerged from an intention to loosen rigid structures and invite greater fluidity into the textile process. Created using crochet, but without following a systematic pattern, the work departs from the traditional discipline of the technique. Instead, strands of cotton intertwine in an irregular, organic surface that seems to have formed almost of its own accord. The composition evokes the movement of a small stream, suggesting quiet persistence and the slow shaping of form over time. What began as an experiment with shape and texture became an exploration of letting go, allowing the material to guide the process. In this way, Arroyo reflects the rewards of openness and the natural flow that arises when control is softened.
