Recycled cotton and nettle
96 × 124 × 2 cm
2021
This artwork explores rhythm and movement through repetition.
Each square is handwoven using nettle yarn, embracing the natural variations in color and texture inherent to the material. While the squares aim for uniformity, each one carries subtle differences, reflecting the handmade process and the moments of attention and care in which they were created. The squares are stitched together to form a larger tapestry, with pieces of recycled cotton incorporated in U-shaped forms that enhance movement and visual flow. The recurring pattern and gentle irregularities create a sense of rhythm, while also telling a story of the material, the process, and the layered moments of creation.
